Symbolic Music Generation using Neural Networks
Tags: Python (PyTorch), Machine Learning
I recently graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelors Degree in Statistics & Data Science. During my time there, I served as an Operations Coordinator for the university's Information Technology department, as well as the Director of Fund Development on the United Sorority & Fraternity Council. I believe that data is a great (if not the best) medium of storytelling, and my interest in the field has lead me to explore projects that range from business analytics, to machine learning, and data engineering. The mixture of my academic coursework with online resources, and domain knowledge has taught me that data science is a multidisciplinary field that requires a diverse set of skills. Realizing that there is still so much to learn, and that there is no "one size fits all" solution to any given problem, I find myself always looking for opportunites to expand my knowledge and skills. Below, I hope to highlight and share some of my work, skills, and experiences that I have gained throughout this journey.

Gained hands-on SQL skills by writing queires to select, filter, and aggregate data. Practiced join tables to combine data with multiple sources, used subqueries and window functions for more complex analysis, and cleaned and manipulated data using PostgreSQL functions. Finally, applying skills to mini-project by examining student mental health trends using real-world data and completing the DA101 Timed Exam for certification.
Learned the basics of Snowflake databases and how to leverage them for data storage through interactive reflection questions, hands on lab work, and automated checks. Practiced concepts such as creating and editing Snowflake databases, loading and querying JSON data, creating and modify compute resources, and loading data into tables.
